Imlerich has long had a bad reputation. His general income is stealing from the dead. Imlerich himself did not consider this a bad thing. The dead don't need money, weapons, or jewelry, but he's still quite alive and he needs something to eat. In addition, he then burns the corpses so that they do not rot and do not waste the infection and stench.

Times are turbulent. Imlerich increasingly meets those killed in the forest after fights with creatures of chaos (local monsters), and skirmishes between warring clans and lords leave behind such fields of carnage.

In the chilly autumn, Imlerich rode a horse through the forest, approaching the borders of two lordships. Today, he clearly had a wink of luck. He stumbled upon the scene of the skirmish. Warriors in clothes with different coats of arms were lying on the ground, dead. The rain made sense of the blood, turning the place into mud. The battle was clearly fierce.

Imlerich silently dismounted from his horse, approaching this 'grave'. The bodies haven't rotted yet. So the battle was yesterday or, at most, the day before yesterday.

Imlerich worked in silence. He did not collect much wealth: two dozen silver coins, a couple of copper coins, one gold (that's luck!), and picked up several more or less expensive daggers. He usually got a lot more, but that's not bad either.

Imlerich went to the last corpse, which he had not checked. He pulled off his interfering cloak and began to feel the body, looking for prey.
