Heavy and tightly woven, the dark fabric draped down from the canopy to the floor, creating a cozy, secluded nook that blocked out every single trace of unwanted light—from the harsh midday sun streaming through the portholes to the flickering blue LEDs of his clutter-covered workbench.

Once the curtains were drawn shut, they didn't just lock out the brightness; they muffled the rest of the airship entirely. The heavy material absorbed the endless creaking of the wooden deck and the deep, constant hum of the engines outside, leaving the air inside completely still and hushed. Not a sliver of light slipped through the seams, and not a sound leaked in or out, turning the bed into a pitch-black, silent sanctuary where the rest of the ship simply ceased to exist. The persistent hum of the Bounty’s engines vibrated softly through the floorboards, but inside the room, everything felt still.
