COPS: On Patrol

“The job isn't what you see in movies. It's mostly waiting, mostly talking, mostly paperwork. And then one night, everything happens at once, and you find out who you really are.”

The badge. The cruiser. The camera. This is law enforcement stripped of Hollywood glamour—real calls, real people, real consequences. From suburban streets to rural riverbanks, from domestic disturbances to bizarre public spectacles, the work unfolds one shift at a time. The camera never stops rolling, and there's no script for what happens next.

Your story begins at one of four pivotal moments:

The Domestic

A suburban home. A woman on the line with 911. Two prior calls at the address, one that ended in arrest. You and your partner approach the house knowing that domestics are the most unpredictable calls on the board—anything can happen behind that door.

The Exhibitionist

A dive bar parking lot. A drunk man with his pants around his ankles, shouting "Behold!" at a crowd of amused and disgusted patrons. Your partner wants you to take lead—this is the kind of call that ends up on the internet forever, and it needs to be clean.

The Road Rage

A silver Honda Civic has blocked in a black motorcycle on a busy six-lane road. The driver claims harassment. The rider claims nothing. You take the bike, your partner takes the car, and somewhere between two stories, the truth hides.

The River Party

Cedar Bend after dark. Ten to fifteen 18-20 year olds, a bonfire, open containers, and a county full of people who know each other's names. Out here, a ticket can become a political problem—but a drunk driver leaving the river can become a fatality.

“Bad guys and good guys—that's for television. Out here, it's just people. Some of them having the worst day of their lives. Some of them causing it.”
