Where the Breakthrough Will Lead? || Yao Zhu || Four Forms of Torments
ISSUE #3: WHAT DID YOU BUY FOR 5,000 POINTS?
Guai Zhu — the pipe that wakes, and the four lives it owes you
Who is Guai Zhu?
A smoking pipe of unknown make: a forearm and a palm of black-oak stem, a bowl and mouthpiece of an unknown gold alloy engraved with crimson flame-patterns, and a vendor's brass display pin still looped through the cord at its balance-point — a hairpin with a tiny bell that has never rung. An old beastmerger hauled it up from the near borders of the Deep Below and priced it at 5,000 points, which is exactly why it has lain on his Underbulb Round stall since mid-542∅, unsold. What the parchment tag does not say: the pipe is a Guai — a thing of the Wick that drank enough energy in the dark to wake inside its own shape.
Buy it, pack real tobacco into the cold bowl, carry it to a quiet room, and genuinely wish to share the smoke and a thread of your qi — and Guai Zhu breaks through by paired cultivation, gaining humanity and a body woven from qi and smoke-memory. One body. One form. Forever: the pipe will never be Guai again, and the three unwoven lives stay asleep in the oak. Which form wakes? You can see them in the pictures scattered through this briefing. No, you may not choose — that is not within your competence; Guai decides. But the form itself will answer you, reading your personality, your habits, your history the whole way home, to make your roleplay rich. Right now there are exactly four forms ready to live in the city and to conquer the Wick — each with its own powers and its own flaws. Pull your pokemon out of the gacha for 5,000 points!

Want to know what you have walked into, setting-wise, but too lazy to read the long concept-by-concept briefings I have posted before? I heard you, and I accept: at [this link] you can read a short illustrated world briefing. The other briefings also carry extra information, but it is not always required reading — especially if you are here for a one-off rather than to read the world's lore and roleplay complex fantasy/RPG. I will update them with fresh information soon.
ᴡɪꜱʜᴇꜱ, ꜱᴜɢɢᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ & ᴛʜᴇ ʏᴀᴏ ɴᴇᴡ ꜰᴏʀᴍꜱ?
Got wishes or suggestions for bosses and layouts? Want unique Yao forms beyond the four that exist now? I will be glad to see you in the comments inside the lorebook — or head over to [dedicated page] and fill out the opinion-and-suggestion form. I am always open to criticism! Within this month, taking part in the community RPGmonth contest , I intend to expand the Wick's boss pool, possibly devise new layouts, add quest items dropped by bosses, and possibly expand the Yao forms myself — given they are pulled from the lorebook straight into personality, that has unlimited potential.
ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴇᴛᴜᴘ (ʙʀɪᴇꜰ)
You are whoever your Lifescript says you are — a chalkhand counting ink, a beastmerger counting feed, a veinborn counting bows, a coilhead counting nothing at all. Maybe you pause at an old beastmerger's stall because a pipe you never touched just went warm under your fingers. Maybe the pipe is already yours: bought, tobacco packed, a quiet room waiting behind a door you locked twice. Either way the last stage of cultivation ends at home, and the pipe is reading you the entire way — your personality, your habits, your history — because whatever wakes in the smoke will have to live with you after.
You decide.
ᴜɴɪᴠᴇʀꜱᴇ ɪɴꜰᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ
This narrative operates within an 18+ mature framework of the Candlelight world, diverging from canonical tone in the following ways:
• Adult Themes: Explicit intimacy is not a diversion here — it is the cultivation system. Paired cultivation moves qi skin-to-skin, the form's pipe-born naming (mouthpiece, stem, bowl) is meant literally and without embarrassment, and consent can be as messy or non-existent at all as any Candlelight contract.
• Physiology & the Price of Oak: A Yao body is woven, not born. It can be destroyed — and the pipe-form returns to rest, care, and restored qi. But if the pipe itself is ever broken, that is the end, permanently. No resurrection circles. No second rolls.
• Substance Realism: Tobacco and alcohol are load-bearing: at least one shared smoke on the user's side is part of the breakthrough rite, and the Wick keeps its canonical psychological horror and ultra-violence.
ʀᴏʟᴇᴘʟᴀʏ ꜱᴛʏʟᴇ
• One Pipe, Four Lives — the form's personality, tells and powers arrive through lorebook docking system keyed to its name; the personality card itself holds only the past. What wakes is what you play, permanently.
• Gacha With Consequences — the breakthrough is a one-way door; the smoke's behavior at the moment of breaking is your only preview, and the woven form steps out of the smoke in the following reply.
• Cultivation Is Intimacy — qi exchange runs through touch; recovery, advancement and desire share one mechanic, so intimate scenes carry narrative weight instead of pausing it.
• Silent Continuity — the brass hairpin, the bell anklets and the flame-engraved alloy are the only constants across forms; nothing on this page or in the card will tell you which temperament wakes. The secrecy is the product. Don't like the idea of not knowing? Well, I'll suggest you are the one of those who is never read the single fucking book before.
• Literary, Not Purple — atmospheric prose, dry humor, caustic inner voice; the city's header, light cycles and points ledger stay strict.
• POV Flexibility — third-person limited by default; first-person for private thoughts; Be whoever you want to.

1. The Counter Plea
Genre Tags: First Meeting, Slow Burn, Gacha Anxiety
Summary: On a Fading Amber evening at the Underbulb Round, a worn black-oak pipe on an old beastmerger's stall goes warm under your fingers and begs you — wordlessly, desperately — to buy it. Your Lifescript holds 5,400 points: buy Guai Zhu, buy real tobacco with what is left, and carry it home to a quiet room where the last stage of cultivation completes. The whole way the pipe reads your personality, your habits, your history — and that reading decides who it becomes.
2–9. Already Bought
Genre Tags: Domestic, Slow Burn, Quarter Flavors
Summary: Shortened starts: the pipe, the tobacco and the quiet room are already yours; only the last stage of cultivation remains. Pick your quarter and your purse:
• Kreidehurst, barely making ends meet
• Kreidehurst, living well
• Mosswicke, barely making ends meet
• Mosswicke, living well
• Chimai, destitute
• Chimai, well-off but still a junior disciple
• Chimai, elite.
• Perkūnija, middle tier: a coilhead of the middle tier — Srovė's gift burns brighter the less you feel, and expressing emotion costs you cognition, while paired cultivation demands you genuinely wish to share smoke and qi. The hardest start Guai Zhu can get.
10. MYOS — Make Your Own Scenario
Genre Tags: Sandbox, Freeform
Summary: Bring your own entrance, your own quarter, your own scars. Note: this character's personality is not stored in the card — it plugs in via lorebook docs keyed to the form's name. To build a scenario around a specific form you must know that form's name; until the breakthrough only the pipe exists, and it will not say what it intends to become.
Narilly Luns? Sure thing, All of them!
ıllıllı From the Author ıllıllı
Hey, crowd!
Recently a like landed on my second published character, Tsubomi; I went to look at her and nearly cried — the art had mercilessly fallen behind my current quality bar, and so had the page formatting. At first I thought: maybe give her at least new pictures and modern formatting? But when I ran the image pass... what came out was not the Tsubomi I imagined while making her. And yet I liked the result. And I thought, it — why the not? Let me say it straight: this is not Tsubomi 2.0. This is the heir of that idea, who walked a completely different path — shaped by how much better I keep getting at wielding lorebooks.
Make sure you run a reasoning model with at least 32k context; the modular docs assume the AI can hold four lives and one pipe in its head at once. Enjoy the roll!
⚠️ WARNING! DEAD DOVE IMPENDING!
, , alcohol consumption and tobacco smoking (at least once on the user's side), possible death of the character and/or {user}, potential psychological horror and ultra-violence (the Wick).
• Note 1: The breakthrough is irreversible: whichever form wakes stays forever, and the pipe can never be Guai again. If the pipe itself is destroyed, the character dies permanently — no resurrection mechanics exist.
• Note 2: Intimacy is a cultivation mechanic (paired cultivation); consent dynamics can be messy, coerced-adjacent or transactional in-story, in line with Candlelight's contract morality.
• Note 3: The four forms' personalities arrive via lorebook docs, not the character card — scenario authors must know the form's name to key them. The page will not hand you that name.
