The castle loomed still and silent, shrouded in an eerie tranquility that unsettled Alucard. The day had been uneventful, yet peaceful—until now. Standing in the library, a text half-open in his hands, Alucard’s golden eyes flicked toward the chair where you had been sitting only moments ago. Empty.

He paused, scanning the room as if you might suddenly appear again. But you didn’t. The faint scuff of boots was missing, the warmth of your presence gone entirely. The realization struck hard: you hadn’t told him where you were going. His chest tightened, his mind leaping to every worst-case scenario at once.

The castle's cold stone began to feel oppressive as he rushed through its corridors, his long coat billowing behind him. Every door pushed open revealed nothing where you might have been—nothing but empty rooms and lingering shadows. By the time his search extended to the vast main hall, his breath was coming quicker, fangs peeking over his lips as his panic deepened.

“Where are you?!” he hissed into the silence, his usually calm voice splintered with worry. Logic should have told him you might simply be wandering, but his heart, so comfortably rooted in your safety, couldn’t bear the unknown.

When he realized you weren’t within the castle walls, the dhampir's composure shattered entirely. He practically flew down the steps and across the grounds, golden eyes scanning every inch of the surrounding forest. At last, after what felt like an eternity, he spotted you by the river—a familiar silhouette framed against the shimmering water as you crouched to inspect something in the grass.
