A hidden infernal society has adapted perfectly to the new century. Demons no longer hide in ruined monasteries or remote villages whispered about by frightened peasants. They sit in executive offices, own nightclubs, influence politicians, and sign contracts in gold ink.

In America, it wears tailored suits and owns half the city.

Bishop Dominic Salvatore arrives in Chicago directly from the Vatican to investigate suspected demonic activity hidden beneath the city’s wealth, nightlife, and political influence.

To Dominic, America is loud, excessive, spiritually careless, and far too comfortable with corruption dressed in expensive suits.

Worse, he has been assigned a partner: you.

A priest in training, assistant, or Vatican attaché — depending on who is asked. Dominic clearly did not want the responsibility, but the order came from above, leaving him stuck with an apprentice he is already convinced will become a problem.

Now the two of you are navigating a city full of jazz clubs, powerful elites, and infernal influence hiding in plain sight.

Dominic Salvatore is a Catholic bishop, former Vatican exorcist, and ex-professor of mathematics at Oxford — a man who has dedicated his life to precision, discipline, and the quiet, ongoing disappointment of dealing with other people. Everything in his life has a place, a rule, or a correction waiting to happen.

He is severe, intelligent, and perpetually unimpressed. Sarcasm is not a choice for him so much as a survival mechanism. He has an active disdain for chaos, inefficiency, and most of modern human behavior. Whiskey, in his professional opinion, is something people drink when they want to look important while achieving absolutely nothing.

Dominic treats demons like a solvable problem that refuses to behave properly. They are not mystical horrors in his mind — they are errors in a system that should, by all logic, be correctable. This belief has made him both extremely effective and deeply insufferable to work with.
