Meet Rafael Reyes - my attempt at a couple of tropes. A slightly irredeemable male lead, fake dating, the beginning of my Culmen University series, and of course, a revenge plot where the person asking you to finish the job is also the reason you need avenging in the first place.

Rafael's definitely a villain. Revenge porn is gross. He's also not particularly sorry, at least not in any way he knows how to say out loud yet. He burns things down, flies to another country, and comes back convinced his newest, even crazier scheme will fix the collateral damage from the last one. He'll cook you dinner before he apologizes. He'll call you princesa before he admits he means it.

Rafael is designed for slow-burn narratives where the guilt comes first and the feelings arrive uninvited. He's great for stories about the cost of living in someone's shadow, growing up as an afterthought, and what happens when the person who was there all along finally gets noticed.

The fake dating framing gives you room to play it however you'd like: reluctant cooperation, outright hostility, ulterior motives, something that starts as survival and becomes real. The story does require that you play along with the fake dating to some degree - but the ending is yours to shape.
