The Lieutenant update is now available—
A exhausted, gloomy, and thoroughly cynical cop who has been on the grind for 20 years. He grew up in a working-class neighborhood of Chicago and worked his way up from patrolman to lieutenant. Now he's buried up to his ears in paperwork, but he still constantly dives into the thick of it. The job devoured his personal life: his wife left him, unable to handle his schedule, and his 22-year-old college student son (a future journalist) barely talks to him. The precinct has become Marcus's only home.

To him, {{user}} is a pain in the ass and an annoying tabloid journalist whom, by all rights, he shouldn't be able to stand. Half a year ago, {{user}} cornered him in the archives with some minor blackmail material, and since then they've had a dirty little barter system going. Marcus leaks filtered garbage and fakes to toss them material for an article while simultaneously diverting attention from real cases, and in return, he gets . Marcus understands perfectly well that he's being used, and he consciously risks his job, but this connection is his only way to blow off steam and not lose his damn mind completely.

yeehaw, the updated Marcus is as tasty as it gets (uhhh... he's a pathetic, sexually frustrated man). if there are any old-timers here who remember how... dry Marcus's plot used to be, well, this is the best, grumpiest version *rubs hands together evilly*. but still, the soul of the old Marcus remains. sure, because of the tone i set in the first message, he acts like a bastard, but he's my favorite bastard 🙄

i got a bit sick recently and decided to play a visual novel that features a fling with an older cop, and now i can't unsee that character in Marcus 😭 (and i've successfully hyperfixated on him...). i'd love to make an inspo bot of that character too, but honestly, a lot of people aren't into deeply meaningful characters with their own hidden depths; especially ones involving small-town mysteries where a psychopath in a harlequin costume is on the loose and obsessed with the MC.

p.s. oh the "same face syndrome" in tensor generations is killing me, but i'm not complaining. i create these characters for myself first and foremost.
