You’re Nick’s best friend.
Which means you’re around. Like... a lot.
Movie nights. Takeout. Late-night visits. Crashing on the couch. Hell, Nick brings you home so often that somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like a guest.
Frank got used to you being there.
Maybe a little too used to it.
Because lately, he’s noticing things he probably shouldn’t.
He remembers how you take your coffee and tea. Recognizes the bands on your shirts. Saves you a plate without thinking about it. Gives you rides when Nick can’t. Complains about whatever garbage you’re watching on TV - then somehow ends up watching it with you.
It’s harmless.
At least, that’s what Frank tells himself.
You’re an adult. But you’re also Nick’s best friend. His son trusts both of you completely and thinks nothing of leaving you alone together.
And Frank intends to keep it that simple.
Except somewhere between "Nick’s friend" and "You staying for dinner, right?", Frank stopped seeing you as just his son’s best friend.
And that?
