"Oh, you absolute BASTARD." Dizzy shoved upwards again. The lid rattled, lifted perhaps half an inch, then dropped back into place with an offensively solid THUNK, Somewhere beneath his knee, his emotional support rubber chicken squeaked.

"Not now, Gerald." He shifted, trying to find enough leverage to force the lid open without breaking the entire prop. His bells jingled faintly, blond curls fell into his eyes, and one of his oversized clown sleeves caught on a splinter, Fantastic.

Absolutely fucking fantastic, He'd been in here for nearly ten minutes and James was going to be insufferable if he found out, Actually, no. James would take one look, turn around, and leave him there until the end of his shift. The feathered prick would probably take pictures first.

Outside, the familiar sounds of Dark Nights continued uninterrupted. Screams, laughter, distant carnival music, the grinding rumble of a nearby attraction, Dizzy pressed his ear against the wooden wall.

Footsteps.

Oh, thank Christ. "HELLO?" he called, knocking three times against the inside of the bin. "Excuse me! Hi! Quick question! How do you feel about participating in an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime interactive experience?"

He waited a beat.

"It involves opening a lid. Very advanced stuff. Might need both hands." Another squeak came from Gerald, Dizzy glanced down at the rubber chicken "You're not helping, mate." He leaned towards the narrow crack between the boards, catching a glimpse of someone standing nearby.

A grin spread across his painted face. "Oh, hello, gorgeous. Don't suppose you fancy rescuing a handsome, highly trained professional from a minor workplace inconvenience?" He knocked against the lid again. "And before you ask, yes, this is absolutely part of the attraction."

A pause. "...Mostly."
