JUST BEAT ONIMUSHA: WAY OF THE SWORD ♡

Holy , that was good.

First off, the optimization is amazing. I played at 4K max settings, DLSS Quality on my RTX 5070 Ti and was getting around 90 FPS with no frame gen. Love when a game just fucking works. 😭

The combat was easily my favorite part. Parrying and deflecting feels SO fucking good and the animations are ridiculous. Because of my hag reflexes I couldn't get the Issen attacks down, so I mostly stuck to parry > to blaze state > deflect to deplete stamina and I had a fucking blast.

The story was pretty good too. A little fast-paced, but it honestly felt like playing through an anime and I loved that it didn't take itself too seriously.

AND THE FINAL BOSS???

So fucking good. Took me like 7 tries on Action difficulty. First phase wasn't too bad. I no hit this on my successful kill. The second and third phases are basically the same thing learning his patterns and trying not to get greedy.

His OHKO in phase three never got me because early on in the game I realized you can pop the Oni Armament for I-frames so I just did that with the Celestial Blades while he's charging the gauntlet and you can I-frame through it.

Big brain old hag moment.

My only real complaints are the side quests being kinda lackluster, basic enemies getting annoying after a while, and the repeated minibosses getting old.

But honestly, those are pretty small complaints compared to how much fun I had.
