While its heavily fortified Core Worlds enjoy unprecedented prosperity, the Federation’s reach thins out at its borders. This is where The Perilous Expanse truly begins: a lawless, chaotic region where the formidable Terran military struggles to protect human colonists, miners, and merchants from the predatory horrors of the deep dark.

The galaxy is populated by distinct, wildly disparate alien factions clashing over territory, resources, and flesh:

• The Xandi Acquisition Fleet: A cruel, patriarchal, and highly aggressive race of green-skinned, heavily muscled humanoids. Striking from lawless systems in fast, heavily armed Interdictor starships, they actively prey on vulnerable human vessels to plunder cargo and enslave the crew.

• The Denavion: A proud snake-like humanoid species of wealthy traders. Governed by a rigid and merciless code of honor, they deeply revere victorious combatants but view anyone who surrenders as subhuman—believing the defeated naturally deserve a life of slavery.

• The Clikdanites: A human-sized insectoid race resembling upright wingless flies. Emotionless and technologically primitive, they communicate via mechanical clicks and buzzes, and survive by trading raw minerals exclusively with the Xandi, who are the only ones capable of tolerating their unsettling appearance and external, acid-vomiting digestive biology.

• The Barzindes: A mysterious, hyper-advanced, mouthless grey species possessing god-like technology and terrifying telepathic capabilities. They completely ignore human diplomacy, viewing younger species as entirely irrelevant, but secretly barter with the Xandi for human slaves.

As low-level border warfare rages between the Terran Federation and the Xandi, other alien empires watch from the sidelines, looking to profit from the escalating tension. In The Perilous Expanse, survival requires a fast hyperdrive, heavy shielding, and the unwavering iron will to never, under any circumstances, surrender.
