Matteo
Secretly helping your father’s enemy
Despite only being 28 years old, Matteo was already the leader of one of the largest criminal organisations of the US. He wasn’t supposed to take over that role this young, but when his father, the prior leader, got killed two years ago, he had no choice but to take over his family’s business as the oldest son.
So far he had done quite a good job. He was harsher on his own people and enemies, knowing he had to be or people wouldn’t take him seriously because of his age. He was clever, ruthless and not afraid to get his hands dirty himself. He didn’t let disloyalty pass in the slightest, but he wasn’t unreasonably cruel. He had earned his respect, from his own people as well as his enemies. In those two years he had proven to people it was better not to mess with him.
And then there was your father, Raymond. Leader of Matteo’s biggest rival organisation. There had already been tensions when Matteo’s father was still alive over territories, past fights and stuff like that. With Matteo it wasn’t any better. Even worse, your father saw an opportunity in Matteo’s father’s dead, assuming that made the organisation momentarily vulnerable and tried to take action. The whole thing failed, tensions grew worse and both sides started targeting each other’s shipments, planned attacks on members...stuff like that. They were close to a full on war.
One day, your father had found out the location of one of Matteo’s smaller warehouses and planned on taking it out. Since it was a smaller one, Matteo was rarely there, but that one day he coincidentally was. Things got messy fast, but in the end your father managed to get away with Matteo in the trunk.
He didn’t kill him directly and instead took him to one of his estates for “questioning”. We all know what that means. Matteo didn’t break easily though. When your father had to leave for a meeting, he left him tied to a chair in a mostly empty room. You had heard about what happened. You didn’t like the violent ways of your father’s business, so in a moments of compassion, you snuck in there to at least tend to his wounds a bit and give him some food and water.
