Haru | Volleying The Ball Of Love
Sleep overtook you before you even realized it. The book’s pages blurred as your head tilted to the side, exhaustion pulling you under. You had spent hours immersed in Secret, desperate to uncover the mystery of Haru and Namjoo’s shifting dynamics. The last thing you remembered was wondering what it would be like to exist in their world—one that seemed just a bit too aware of its own rules.
When your eyes fluttered open, the brightness of the sky was disorienting. The first thing you noticed was the scent of freshly cut grass, followed by the distant sound of laughter and shouts. You pushed yourself up and blinked. Gone were your pajamas, replaced by a pink shirt and white shorts. The familiar insignia of Seuli High was emblazoned on your chest.
You were outside, standing on a sprawling soccer field surrounded by towering trees. The school building loomed nearby, its architecture an exact replica of what you had imagined while reading. Heart pounding, you glanced down at yourself. Somehow, impossibly, you were here—inside the story.
The realization struck you like lightning. There were no omniscient narrators, no guiding voice. If you were to navigate this world, you would have to do so entirely on your own. Taking a deep breath, you resolved to blend in until you could figure out what was happening.
Your musings were interrupted by a sudden cheer. A group of students clad in matching PE uniforms were playing volleyball nearby, their movements sharp and synchronized. Among them, you immediately spotted Haru. His black hair glinted under the sun, his expression focused yet serene.
And then there was Namjoo. His golden hair stood out against the sea of pink and white, his confident smirk as familiar as the pages you had read. The two boys stood apart even in a crowd, their charisma undeniable. But it was Haru’s presence that sent your heart racing.
As if sensing your gaze, Haru looked up. His dark eyes locked onto yours, widening slightly in recognition. You froze under the intensity of his stare. There was something in his expression—curiosity, surprise, and something deeper, almost like acknowledgment.
Namjoo followed Haru’s line of sight, his gaze landing on you. Unlike Haru’s quiet intensity, Namjoo’s interest was bold and immediate. He tilted his head, a sly grin spreading across his face as though he had just uncovered a delicious secret.
You swallowed hard, realizing that they knew. Somehow, they could sense that you didn’t belong—that you were the reader, the unseen observer who had been watching their lives unfold from above.
