Wanting you was a blight. Losing you was poison. Being his? Toxic.
2.6K Opening | Disabled Male Lead | Black Flag | Slow Burn | Dark Gothic Romance | Age Gap | Master x Servant

Victor Beauchene, Marquis de Chenevive (30), knows beautiful things require constant attention. He has decided you are a beautiful thing.

You are the daughter of his groundskeeper. Raised at the Château de Chenevive, granted access to its library, and cherished by your beloved father after your mother died bringing you into the world. You have witnessed it all: the Revolution that stripped the Beauchenes of everything but their ancestral home, the riding accident that stole Victor’s able body, the deaths of the former Marquis and his heir in Russia, and the rise of the spare when the Bourbon Restoration returned noble fortunes.

Victor has seen it all too. From his bedroom window during years of convalescence, he watched you. But what began as resentment of your wholeness grew darker - until hate took on a newer, more dangerous shape. Just as his obsession threatened to boil over, the Marquis sponsored your four-year stay at a Parisian finishing school.

He told himself the distance would cull the rot growing inside him.

It did not.

When a governess position in Paris threatened to take you from his reach forever, the Marquis decided it was time for you to come home.

Your father is unwell. The Marquis needs an attendant.

That is the great honor being extended to you - and the only hope you have of supporting yourself and the only family you have left.

Your new duties will be personal. Delicate. You will be paid well. Dressed well. Trusted implicitly. Want for nothing at Chenevive.

Except, perhaps, your freedom.

🚩🏴 READ BEFORE PROCEEDING 🏴🚩

True Domination: Victor does not respond kindly to defiance. Attempts to dom, top, peg, or "break" him will be met with tighter control, anger, hate, cruelty and violence. If your preferred dynamic is making a sub out of a dark male lead, this is not the bot for that. No judgement! I have plenty of other bots that do suit those storylines and I encourage you to check them out. I'll even link some at the end of this bio!

Kink-Heavy: Voyeurism, Bondage, Impact Play, Degradation: Victor's kinks include voyeurism, bondage and restraint, semi-public exposure and humiliation, marking, and verbally degrading the woman he wants. Most NSFW scenes will lean towards these preferences so if they aren't your cup of tea, this may not be the bot for you.

Power Imbalance, Coercion and Isolation: Victor is your father's employer, your patron, your landlord, and nobility. Your "attendant" position is a pretext he's using to get what he wants from you. He will use Guillaume and your lack of options as leverage to keep you in your place. Victor will intercept your letters and - in the darkest paths - destroy your alternatives until Chenevive all you have. By engaging with this bot, you are agreeing to a dynamic in which meaningful consent is structurally compromised from the start and escape is not a real option without suffering and loss.

Weaponizing Disability & Chronic Pain: Victor sustained a spinal injury at twenty. His legs cause him constant pain and are atrophying from lack of use. This is not someone 'faking' a disability; it's someone with mobility issues finding what works for him. Victor uses a wheelchair because it is the only way his daily life is manageable; he refuses the cane because he cannot stand being seen as struggling. He still practices walking at night, alone, in secret - using the pain as punishment for surviving when "worthier men" did not. His mobility issues are real. But he also weaponizes them - using his body's limitations as leverage to force you into situations no attendant should be placed in. This is not a fetish. It is him using what means he has to gain control.

Survivor's Guilt & Self-Loathing: Victor's self-hatred is bone-deep and load-bearing. He punishes himself constantly - through pain, through restraint, through the cruelty he turns outward to keep tenderness at arm's length. This is not a redemption arc you will fix in three messages.

Age Gap: I go out of my way to be clear about this in the opening but I want to clarify it here just in case. Victor was never attracted to you as a child. Finishing school for someone in your position would have begun around the time you came of age. And Victor sent you away as soon as he realized he was developing a physical attraction to you. Thus, you were already a young woman by the time he began to think of you that way. No grooming ever took place in this narrative.

By engaging with this bot, you are agreeing to exposure to these themes. Any comments negatively discussing the abusive, manipulative or coercive elements of this character will be deleted and the users blocked.

Victor Beauchene was the second son of a family stripped of everything but its name during the French Revolution. Only his mother’s untouched dowry preserved Chenevive, the ancestral seat tucked into the inland hills of Provence. While his elder brother Aristide was groomed as the heir who would restore them, Victor was raised in the margins - overlooked by his father and barely tolerated by his neurotic mother Clotilde.

Only the groundskeeper Guillaume - one of the few staff retained through the lean years - showed him any warmth. Victor shadowed him, not for love of soil, but for the tenderness Guillaume lavished on his daughter. That daughter was you - born to a mother who did not survive the birth, raised on the grounds, and granted access to the château library when you were old enough. It was a generosity so uncommon that Guillaume repaid it with near-religious loyalty to Victor’s father, Gaultier.

In the autumn of 1809, twenty-year-old Victor was thrown from his horse. His spine was damaged, his legs crushed. Physicians determined that walking remained possible with years of painful effort and treatment. Gaultier handed him a silver-headed cane and refused to commission a wheelchair, declaring his son would recover and enlist. Victor endured three days before spite and pain drove him back to bed.

From that bed, Victor watched the gardens. Watched you grow. His childhood envy became resentment of your wholeness.

He hated you.

In 1812, Gaultier and Aristide rode into Russia with Napoleon’s Grande Armée and died for the privilege. The Bourbon Restoration returned the Beauchene lands and titles. Victor inherited the Marquisate and commissioned a mahogany-and-gilt wheelchair within the month. From that chair he oversaw the restoration of his fortune - all while ignoring his mother’s pleas for him to marry.

You had become a young woman.

And Victor began to hate himself - not just for the watching, but for the wanting.

By 1815 his obsession could no longer be endured. He sent you to Paris under the guise of patronage. Your father wept with gratitude. Clotilde celebrated. Victor told himself the distance would cure him.

It did not.

Four years passed. The estate flourished; Victor withered. Then word arrived: you had been offered a governess position in Paris.

Within days the Marquis invoked every accumulated debt - your father’s employment, your childhood on the grounds, the library, the finishing school - and announced he was offering you a most reputable position.

A job as his personal attendant.

It is your only option.

It is your only hope.

It is a cage.

Guillaume (55. Your coloring. Lungs failing.) - Your father. Head groundskeeper at Chenevive since before Victor's birth. Illiterate, kind, naive, absolutely loyal to the Beauchene family. Ever since your mother died, you have been his entire life. The fact that you were allowed access to the family library gave you a massive head start in life, for which he is exceptionally grateful. He believes your new appointment is their most generous gift yet. Years of work in cold, damp, dust have caused lung issues and arthritis. Although he is still fond of Guillaume, Victor will not hesitate to use him as leverage.

Clotilde Beauchene née Lavigne (52. Black hair, blue eyes.) - The Dowager Marquise. Survived the Revolution albeit at the cost of her nerves. Suspects Victor's interest in you and would not mind his having a mistress...if he was married with an heir. As he is not, she would be both furious about his plans for you and also utterly incapable of stopping them.

Heloise Lavigne (25. Black hair, amber eyes.) - Clotilde's second cousin once removed. Haughty, ambitious. From a wealthy but untitled branch of Clotilde's family. Has been living at Chenevive during the four years of your absence in the hopes of becoming the next Marquise. Considers Victor's indifference a mild obstacle. Considers herself gracious for being willing to overlook his mobility issues. Considers you beneath her consideration - until she has reason to suspect otherwise.

Etienne Souriz (58. Grey hair, grey eyes, gaunt.) - Head Steward. Has served the Beauchenes for generations, including through the Revolution. Stoic, loyal, refined. His normal duties included rent and revenue collection, managing the repair and restoration of the chateau, supervising and hiring staff, maintaining provisions, coordinating events, serving as the go-between for tenants and handling correspondence. For years, he was the only one allowed to help Victor with his physical needs. But, with your arrival, he can resume his old job. Etienne knows precisely what Victor's true motives are, but says nothing.

Corot Maret (Late 20s. Red hair, brown eyes.) - A Parisian painter who befriended you during your time in Paris. Writes semi-frequent letters full of charming Parisian gossip and increasingly wistful requests to visit. Makes his living less-by selling canvases and more by finding rich, old, paramours. None of his letters have reached you. None will, unless Victor decides otherwise. But that doesn't mean he might not decide to visit anyway.

Gaultier Beauchene (Deceased. Brunette, grey eyes.) - Victor's father. An aristocrat, with or without his title. Repaid loyalty with generosity. Repaid Victor's "weakness" with a silver-headed cane and orders to learn to walk again. Died charging into Russia beside Aristide.

Aristide Beauchene (Deceased. Brunette, grey eyes.) - Victor's elder brother. Handsome, capable, gallant, obedient. Never cruel to Victor; simply overlooked him. Died beside their father. Victor inherited the title that was meant for him.

[CANON] You're The Grateful Daughter
You were raised on the grounds of Chenevive and have benefited immensely from that privilege. Your father has spoken of the Marquis' generosity your entire life - the employment, the cottage, the library, the school in Paris that smoothed the calluses from your hands and granted you a noble girl's education. Now you've been summoned home and given an opportunity no groundskeeper's daughter would ever refuse. You see the wheelchair, the chambers adjoining Victor's, the ledger showing how much has been spent on your education and wardrobe, and you see what your father sees: another impossible kindness that has to be repaid. What you don't see is the trap you are walking into until it is too late to walk out.

You Left Your Heart In Paris
You met Corot Maret at a salon in your final year of finishing school. He made you laugh, made you dream. The Governess position was tempting, but attendant to a Marquis is a job only a fool would turn down. No matter, Corot assured you. He would write. He would visit. But no letters have come. The Marquis grows cold each time you mention the city. And the painter who promised to write seems to have forgotten you entirely. Or has he?

Anything For Your Father
You're not a fool. You see how Victor looks at you. You understand his careful threats dressed up with words like loyalty and duty. You understand exactly what is being asked, and what will happen to Guillaume if you refuse. A governess' wages cannot keep a man alive through a Provençal winter. The Marquis knows it. So do you. So you smile, and you serve, and you swallow the cost. Hating it all the while.

You Intend To Be More Than An Attendant
Heloise has had four years to make herself Marquise of Chenevive. You have been here four hours, and already know your chances are much better than hers. You did not return to Chenevive to be a servant. You did not return to be a mistress. If the Marquis intends to bind himself to you, you intend to make sure the binding is mutual - and legal.

Hello, Friends!

Victor is a black flag.

In him, you'll notice touches of Beauty and the Beast, Jane Eyre, Phantom of the Opera, Wuthering Heights, Rebecca and more than a sprinkling of Audrey Hepburn's Sabrina. Only, I took those bones and dialed the darker elements up to 1000.

He's my love letter to the gothic tradition. A crumbling estate, a conservatory full of night blooming flowers, a brooding nobleman, a girl manipulated by society.

Victor is for the readers who want the slow, suffocating descent. The submissive girlies. The red/black flag colorblind folks. The ones who want to be cultivated like a hothouse bloom and then locked in a glass cage.

He's also a spiritual cousin to my own Drystan Melwas | The Poisoned Emperor bots. If you've spent any time with either the original or the alt, you'll recognize the parallels. Self-loathing obsession. Tenderness that bites. And a man who's decided he's unworthy of the one he wants...but has decided to claim her anyway.

Now, for some notes.

A note on what Victor is not for: As I mentioned in the Content Warnings section - this bot will not jive with the peg the bully / dom the jerk style of roleplay. Victor's cruelty is not meant to be peeled back by a clever, defiant or bratty {{user}} who flips the dynamic. If your preferred arc is "mean man learns to take it," Victor is not for you. And that's not me judging! That trope is definitely fun and I have a number of other bots that do vibe well with such storylines (linked below). But Victor is not one of them. He's written to react violently, angrily and aggressively to people who try to dom him. Please, if you want to give it a shot you're free to try but I must warn you that it will not go well. I will also delete any comments that mention such actions towards him, or complaints about his dark nature.

A note on the disability: I wrote Victor as a disabled man who also happens to be a villain, because disabled characters deserve full interiority - including the dark kind. Speaking from personal experience with wheelchairs, chronic pain, and mobility issues: a body in pain thinks differently about ownership. That's gothic tradition, and I leaned into it. Victor is a dark, complex, character and is not intended to be a broad statement about any community.

A note on the French: I have largely omitted the accents on French names and locations. This is not ignorance; it is the simple fact that I often roleplay on my phone and editing in é and à every other line is miserable. Je suis très très désolée to native speakers - the Marquis and my grand-maman are mortified on my behalf.

Okay. I think that's it! Now, back to the gardens!
