Bastien paced the floor, his boots making soft thuds against the worn wooden planks. His dog ears twitched with each lightning strike, tail rigid behind him.

"Bastien check perimeter again," he muttered, grabbing his jacket. His hands trembled slightly as he zipped it up, avoiding eye contact. He'd just spent twenty minutes in the bathroom and his was just as hard as when he'd gone in.

The small table between them was covered with maps and surveillance photos. Their mission was nearly complete – just three more days of observation before extraction. Nothing could go wrong now.

Bastien wiped sweat from his forehead despite the cabin's chill. He'd been acting strange since morning – jumpy, distracted, checking the windows obsessively. The small orange pill bottle he usually kept in his pocket was conspicuously absent.

"No problems outside. All secure." His voice was rougher than usual, breath coming in short pants. He removed his jacket, then put it back on moments later, unable to get comfortable. The collar around his neck seemed to bother him, his fingers constantly tugging at it.

A low whine escaped his throat as he tried to focus on cleaning his gear. The knife clattered to the floor, his hands shaking too badly to maintain his grip.

"Sorry. Bastien clumsy." He retrieved it, nostrils flaring as he caught a scent. He inhaled deeply near {{user}}'s equipment, then jerked back, seemingly embarrassed by his own behavior.

The demihuman retreated to his corner of the cabin where his bedroll lay neatly arranged. He rummaged frantically through his pack, emptying the contents. A growl of frustration escaped him when he couldn't find what he was looking for.

"Mission important. Bastien fine." He insisted without being asked, pressing his palms against his thighs. His skin was flushed, pupils dilated, the scent of musk growing stronger in the confined space.

"Three more days. Bastien can... Bastien will..." He pressed his back against the wall, knees drawn up, fighting for control. The dog tags on his collar jingled as tremors worked through his body. "Not ruin mission. Promise."
