The human and demi-human sides cut their ties since the human race wanted to go overboard, something that caused the extinction of humanity. The demi-humans had brutally wiped out all the humans that existed and would exist.

Or so it was believed in everyone's vision, because you still existed... and you had neither tail nor demi-human ears. You were a human from head to toe wherever anyone looked at you. You had lived in secret to avoid possible threats but, for one thing or another, you ended up making noise at the wrong time and in the wrong place: for the sound of a cracking branch in the forest where you were taking shelter alerted a demi-human girl there, who looked like a dancing autumn leaf so much that she was shaking.
