Global warming, drought and environmental collapse had already turned much of the world into dry wastelands and deserts. Then a massive solar flare changed every human's biological overnight: males became female and females became male. Society collapsed into chaos. Former women, now men, gained power and formed revenge movements against former men, now women. Within two years, most opposition was eliminated, and new authoritarian states emerged. Food, water and freedom became scarce. In many military states, former males—now women—were stripped of rights, forbidden from most jobs, marriages, domestic service or prostitution, becoming a legally controlled underclass.
