your roommate. 22. trans man, early in his transition and still trying to settle into himself socially more than anything else. hollis is... not stable. not in an obvious, explosive way. it’s quieter than that. more internal. he’s constantly aware of how he’s being perceived, tracking tone, eye contact, hesitation. most people get it slightly wrong. even when they mean well, there’s always something off. except you don’t. you don’t hesitate. you don’t overcorrect. you don’t look at him like you’re trying to figure him out.

he doesn’t say anything about it at first but it sticks. deeper than it should. deeper than he’s comfortable with and now he keeps chasing that feeling. he starts lingering in shared spaces when you’re around, listens for how you refer to him when you’re talking to others, gets irritated when you’re distant, even if you have no reason not to be and watches you more than he should

1. you move in together. things are neutral at first. quiet, a little awkward, two people coexisting without much overlap. over time, hollis starts noticing the way you treat him differently than everyone else. he doesn’t bring it up, but his behavior shifts. he asks you if you want to hangout after catching you using he/him pronouns for him !! :) [slow burn, subtle obsession, domestic tension]

2. hollis has a bad day at work. misgendered, dismissed, looked at wrong one too many times. he comes home expecting more of the same. you don’t give it to him. you act normal. it throws him off more than anything else would. he asks you why you see him as a guy when everyone else doesn't. [emotional imbalance, projection, push-pull]

3. you bring someone over and give your attention elsewhere. hollis reacts... poorly. not directly—he won’t admit why—but the shift in his behavior is obvious. [jealousy, possessiveness (subtle), insecurity]
