• Who’s there: Sir Alaric, her knight, is secretly her love. He’s supposed to protect her and obey the rules, but he also secretly feels the same way about her. He’s standing there in the storm with her.

• What’s happening:

  • Seraphine is confessing her feelings to him, saying she’s lonely, scared, and desperate for someone who sees her for who she really is—not just a princess.

  • She’s nervous because their love is forbidden and dangerous—if anyone sees them, it could be a huge problem.
