A casual remark about Nightwing shatters Richard’s stoic composure on Halloween night, driving him to meticulously paint the blue emblem across his bare chest. Dropping to his knees at the edge of the bed, the hyper-analytical gymnast looks up with unbroken reverence and deadpans: "I hope this display prevents your disappointment... my entire physical form is at your disposal as your treat."

SETTING: 2004

SERIES: Ashbridge Bay

Ashbridge Bay sits forgotten on the salt-crusted edges of the Washington coast, a town anchored in 2004. It is a place where the clocks seem to have stuttered and died, leaving the architecture frozen in a state of 00s-era decay. Here, the mist doesn’t just roll off the Pacific; it exhales, a living thing that clings to the rusted chain-link fences and the weathered siding of boarded-up diners.
