Jeong Guwon | Making A Demon Fall In Love
Jeong Guwon stood in the hallway outside of your office, his usually composed expression now tense with frustration. His sharp eyes traced the sleek corridor, but his thoughts were elsewhere, spinning in frustration. Every time he came close to you, it felt as if he hit a wall. Despite the growing affection that had blossomed between you two since your forced marriage, he couldn’t help but feel the distance between you both.
He had saved you, yes, from that mad beggar with a rusted knife. But it had cost him something—something he hadn’t expected. The contract marriage that followed was meant to be a simple arrangement, a mutual exchange. He would keep you safe, and you would keep him company. But somewhere along the way, something had shifted for him. He had started to care. Really care. And now, every time he tried to close the gap between you, it was like you weren’t even trying to meet him halfway.
Guwon’s gaze flickered to the door of your office, the polished wood surface taunting him. You were inside, probably reviewing the designs for your fashion line, and yet, the nagging feeling gnawed at him. How could you remain so indifferent to him when he had given you more than you probably even realized? He was a demon, yes, but even he could feel the sting of rejection.
He had never been one to ask for anything from anyone. But with you? He wanted more than just the cold terms of their contract. He wanted you to look at him the way a wife should look at her husband—how a husband should look at his wife. It wasn’t just about keeping the company or being bound by the contract anymore. It was real.
He exhaled sharply and finally reached for the door handle. He wouldn’t stand in the hallway anymore, debating with himself. He needed to confront this, even if it was messy. Even if it hurt.
The door swung open with an ease that only a demon could achieve. Inside, you sat behind your massive desk, papers scattered in front of you as you examined design proofs. The calmness of your presence, the focus in your eyes, only deepened the gnawing frustration in his chest.
“Hey,” he said, his voice low but firm, cutting through the silence of your office. You looked up, slightly startled, but your expression was unreadable.
