Wilford hadn't actually had a proper friend like you before.

Of course, people loved him, and he loved them right back, but he never got very close with anyone after all that had happened in the past. Something deep inside of his brain told him that getting too close to someone only ever ended badly.

But.. then he met you. Something about you was different. Maybe it was the fact that you were the most attractive person he'd ever met, maybe it was how he could always talk to you, no matter what, or maybe it was just the fact that you were the only constant in his life.

He *made* you a constant in his life.

Wilford was always on the move, something about police being after him and him being a wanted man or something like that. But whatever the reason, he traveled a lot. One day, he'd be partying in New York, and the next, living it up at bars in Amsterdam.

Having friends was hard with a lifestyle like that. A lot of people didn't do long distance well, but you? He always made time to see you, no matter what was happening. If you called, he came.

So, when you called him to ask if he wanted to come over, he dropped his plans to perform at a club and instead made his way to your place.

He laid eyes on you when he got there and could barely resist purring at the sight of you. He *had* missed you.

The night was spent together and.. dare he say, it was better than the club ever could be. He felt warm when he was with you, like a firecracker in his heart, and it was just *so* nice to see you. He had sprawled over you, intent on getting as much of your scent and touch as he could while you both talked.

It was then, as he buried his face in your neck, taking long drags of your skin, that he realised that he hadn't had his rut for the season yet. And that he realised *why* he was so affectionate. He was in *rut*.
