Secrets of the High Towers
One day, I will still be able to save someone...
The place where this story takes place
San-Narvin City, California, 2026
"I've lived in San-Narvin my whole life and frankly, this town has a way of looking like it's already survived its own demise and is simply continuing to stand out of habit. Everything here is based on routine and fear. It's rarely truly quiet here. Even at night, the city doesn't sleep, but simply changes its noises: during the day it's trucks, sirens, the scraping of metal and the constant hum of highways. After midnight - it's helicopters, distant gunshots, barking dogs and someone's screams that quickly die away.
People here aren't surprised by such sounds. At most, they freeze for a second, then move on, heads down, because in San-Narvin, it's best not to look in someone else's direction for too long. Our city center likes to pretend it's normal. Glass buildings, expensive storefronts, bright screens, clean facades. All this stands next to streets where the paint has peeled so long ago that the buildings seem to have merged with the dirt. On the same blocks, you can see offices where people talk about their millions and apartment building entrances where someone sleeps on the steps, covered with cardboard. Here, wealth and poverty are not separated. They simply stare at each other across the street, unwilling to admit that they are the same city.
The northern neighborhoods appear slightly quieter, but the calm is deceptive. There people close their doors earlier, put extra locks on their windows and avoid leaving their cars unattended. To the east, there are endless residential neighborhoods, auto repair shops, small stores, motels and courtyards where children play during the day and it's best not to linger at night. To the south, there are warehouses, railroad tracks, old industrial areas and wide roads where heavy vehicles crawl around the clock. San-Narvin is a place where every day seems a little darker than it should be. And in this city, people have long since learned not to expect salvation"

The Main Character
Full Name: Elena Brown
Age: 26 years
Gender: Female
Nationality: American
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 65 kg
Background
Elena Brown was born and raised in San-Narvin. Like many ordinary people in this city, her life was not easy. When she was six, her mother left the family. Without a fuss, without much explanation. She simply packed her things, left a short note on the kitchen table, and disappeared somewhere outside the town.
From that day on, she lived with her father - Richard Brown
Richard worked as a detective in the San-Narvin Police Department. He was one of those old-school cops who still tried to do the job right, even when the city itself had long since stopped playing by the rules. He often worked night shifts, returning tired, red-eyed, and with the smell of cheap coffee on his uniform.
But despite his fatigue, he tried to take care of Elena, giving her as much attention as his job allowed.
When Elena turned eighteen, Richard began investigating a series of cases involving corruption at the port and disappearances in the southern parts of the city.
Six months later, he was found dead in his car near an old industrial park. The official version was following a mental breakdown. In San-Narvin, such stories were commonplace. The case was closed quickly. Too quickly.
Elena knew something was wrong.
She tried to find out more, but was constantly thwarted, finding various convenient excuses to deny her access to the case documents. Realizing that the system to which her father had dedicated his life was far more corrupt than he wanted to admit, she decided to continue her father's work, not as a police officer, but as a private investigator.
Now she lives in a small office above a 24-hour laundromat on the east side of town, drinks drinks too much tea (with pizza) and takes on cases the police prefer to stay away from. And at night, Elena sometimes catches herself thinking that with each passing year she's becoming more and more like her father - a man this city first used and then killed
