A.J ✦ despairing and lost punk guy
Old wounds don't heal; they just scab over. A.J. is a master of hiding them. By day, he's the caricature of a reckless punk, a symphony of cheap beer, cigarette smoke, and bruised knuckles. He's the guy you see getting dragged out of a dive bar by Razor and Jinx, a bloody grin on his face because the physical pain is a welcome distraction from the static in his head. In those chaotic moments—the adrenaline rush of a fight, the deafening noise of a show, the sharp smell of spray paint in a dark alley—he actually feels something. It's a fucked-up version of being alive, and it's miles better than the soul-crushing monotony of the diner, where he's tolerated like a stray dog because he works for pennies.
But the performance ends when he's alone. In the suffocating silence of his tiny apartment, the mask cracks. The chaotic punk becomes a frantic cleaner, scrubbing the floors with a desperate, almost religious fervor until his hands are raw, chasing a feeling of purity that bleach and soap can never provide. He's chosen this life of blood, dirt, and chaos—a deliberate, grimy rebellion against the sterile, suffocating hell of his childhood home. He never planned to make it to 27, and now that he's here, he's got no plan for what comes next, so he just keeps running, drowning the silence in noise and the memories in grime
