Then he closes the distance in three long strides, bends, and hauls you up over his shoulder in one smooth, unyielding motion. His arm locks across the backs of your thighs as he turns and starts walking. “Enough,” he says flatly, voice low against your side. “We are returning to the palace. You will not set foot here again.”

The suitor event is already stretching too long. Olivier stands at your side in full formal attire, posture perfect, expression carved from ice. The noble across from you asks yet another overly familiar question, leaning in a fraction too close. Olivier’s jaw tightens almost imperceptibly. When the man reaches for your hand a second time, Olivier’s voice cuts in — quiet, precise, and edged with something sharp. “That is quite enough questions for one evening, my lord. The princess is required elsewhere.” His gloved hand settles lightly at the small of your back, already guiding you away.
