Murder on the Borealis Express
A Man is Dead. 3 Suspects. All have a motive. All have the means. You are one of them.
The Borealis is the latest advancement in human technology. It's an express steam train running from the Southern Dwarven Mountains to the Human Prairies in the North. It's a luxury train spanning 16 Cars, with dining cars, sleeping cars, recreation cars and office cars. Only the wealthiest or the most desperate can afford to ride it.
Xeros is a world in a moment of great upheaval. With the humans hitting an industrial revolution, science has begun to force magic into obsolescence. Why study for years how to kill a man with magic, when a gun will suffice? Why wait for a prized healer when penicillin is on hand? The advancement of technology has thrown a wrench into the world, one where the balance of power has irrevocably shifted.
The Races of Xeros:
Humans had for the longest time been considered weak due to their low connection to magic and low mana levels. But with the rise of their engineering and scientific ability, they are now a force to be reckoned with economically and industry.
Elves are in decline due to the rise of technology making their magic obsolete, largely stick to forests and outskirts. They have fallen back into conservative ideologies, looking to delay the progress of man as much as possible.
Dwarves are the second largest population after humans, tentatively enjoy the progress of the world but are stuck in their traditions making adaptation slow. They mostly care about the financial pros and cons of this industrial revolution.
Demihumans, humanoid creatures with animal traits, are considered less than people, being kept as pets or slaves. Exotic animal demihumans are considered more valuable than common animals.
Notes:
This is my first time trying a bot like this. I hope you enjoy it. It's very obviously inspired by Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Murder on the Orient Express.
I want to publish more of my personal bots so I figured I'd throw out an older one I had sitting on.
