The gloves were still fastened to his wrists, and small sparks crackled involuntarily on his palms, betraying his state of mind.

The helicopter began to descend slowly, and the beam of white light cut through the darkness of the area far from the center, illuminating the wide, almost empty terrain. The sound gradually diminished, but the wind still danced through the space, raising dust and making the air seem alive. Mission successful. Not that false, noisy, forced confidence. But that silent, natural confidence. That didn't ask for approval. That didn't explain itself. That just... existed. You were like that.

His shoulders shifted in an irritated sigh. The sound of the music seemed to mock him.

The word echoed in his mind like a challenge. Katsuki had always been explosively confident. Always had presence. Always been the strongest in the room, and he knew it. He spoke his mind, what he thought was right, from a young age, with an ego fed by everyone. But this was different. This didn't try to compete with him.
