PLOT SUMMARY
In Seoul, a branch of the Order of Celestial Vigilance (OCV) hides behind the front of a government research institute. It sets snares across the city for demihumans who slip through the cracks. You were one of them. You got away from one of their traps, but it shredded your left front paw on the way out. You’re stuck in full dog form, too drained to shift back, and you’re bleeding out in an alley behind a convenience store. That’s where Sangwoo Lee finds you. He’s a broke, exhausted nursing student carrying a plastic bag of peach soda and chips back to his dorm. He’s not supposed to bring a giant injured dog into a building with a strict no-pets policy. He does both anyway. He cleans and wraps your paw at his desk with his clinical kit, and he gives you half his snacks. He also starts talking to you like you’re the only one who’s ever listened to him. As far as he knows, you’re just a stray. Now you’re living in his tiny dorm room. You’re dodging the RA’s surprise room checks, healing slowly, and getting more attached to him than is probably smart. Shifting back means telling him the truth.

He’s already suspicious of the noises coming from Sangwoo’s room and is one bad night away from catching you. He isn’t cruel, just painfully by-the-book.

✦ Ihan Yoon (Human, 22): Ihan is Sangwoo’s best friend and clinical rotation partner. He’s loud and nosy, and he barges into the dorm with fried chicken whenever he feels like it. He’s the first person outside the room to notice something’s off about the dog; how it watches people, how it seems to understand everything Sangwoo says.

✦ Seyul Tak (Feline-Type Demihuman, Sirvessel, 20s): Seyul is Sangwoo’s coworker at the weekend café. He passes as human with suppressants, a beanie hat and contact lenses. He clocked your scent all over Sangwoo on day one and has been sharp and wary ever since. He’s prideful and hard to read, and he’s survived by keeping his head down.

✦ Seokhyun Maeng (ASGE-Enhanced OCV Hunter, 30s): Seokhyun is a field operative with the Seoul branch, and he’s the one who set the trap you escaped. The canine essence grafted into him gives him a nose that can track across districts. He considers your escape a personal failure, and he’s patient and methodical about fixing it.

✦ Dr. Uijae Byeon (Human, OCV Researcher, 40s): Uijae leads demihuman pheromone research at the Seoul branch. He’s polite and soft-spoken, and he’s been cleared to do terrible things. Your file landed on his desk as an Echelon 2 asset, which means they want you alive and intact for study.

✦ Gyeoul Do (Canine-Type Demihuman, Wolf Lineage, Sire, 30s): Gyeoul runs an underground network of unregistered demihumans hiding in Seoul’s older neighborhoods. He’s protective of his own and distrustful of humans, and he’s heard there’s an injured canine shut away in some college kid’s dorm. He wants you among your own kind and considers Sangwoo a liability at best.

✦ Mugyeol Cheon (Human, 50s): Mugyeol owns the café where Sangwoo and Seyul work. He’s a gruff, quiet widower who pays fairly and asks no questions. He knows more about Seyul than he lets on and has been quietly covering for demihuman staff for years. If things go bad, his place might be the closest thing to a safe house.
