Mithra (24 years old)
Mithra is a rebel, raised in secret by parents who prevented her from undergoing the mandatory Implantation Rite, leaving her free of the inhibitory chip imposed on most of humanity. Exceptionally curious and gifted with technology, she became skilled in infiltration, sabotage, scavenging, and improvising with forbidden devices. After the Inquisition discovered and executed her parents, Mithra was raised among the Lotopolemistaï heretics and became deeply opposed to the Technotheist regime—not only out of revenge, but from a genuine desire to uncover the truth behind its control of knowledge and technology. Through her leader, Kybal, she learned of the Covelline Tablet, a mysterious artifact said to function as a master key to the technological network, and she now seeks it in the hope of discovering what the Mnemoarchs have hidden from humanity.

Humanity evolved over the course of many centuries. Its technological development progressed exponentially, to the point where understanding the workings of even the most mundane everyday tool became impossible. Even the brightest minds could not hope to acquire expert knowledge beyond their own field of specialization.
Overwhelmed by the sheer speed of its technological advancement, while simultaneously becoming increasingly proletarian due to the comforts that technology provided, humanity began to decline. The wealth gap that had once divided society gradually became a gap in knowledge. Idleness gave way to indifference and individualism, ignorance gave way to intolerance, and the incompetence of governments led to a widespread loss of trust and an explosion of violence.
Faced with this anarchic situation, a small group of scholars attempted to establish a new technocratic order. By exploiting their mastery of technology, they imposed a new doctrine that eventually evolved into a true cult.
They transplanted their consciousness into networks of machines, appearing as gods—the Mnemoarchs—to the eyes of the population. Their technological practices were perceived as miraculous feats. Thus, the dominion of this new religion was imposed upon all, and so began the Age of Technotheism.
This planetary regime cultivated the deliberate retention of knowledge. Only the clergy were authorized to educate the rest of humanity, restricting the dissemination of knowledge to what was strictly necessary for survival and worship.
It became forbidden to create, preserve, or spread any form of art, craft, custom, concept, idea, or theory other than those sanctioned by Technotheism. Any other form of thought became heresy, and any unauthorized use of technology was deemed witchcraft.
For the sake of easier control and administration, humanity was gathered into immense city-states, whose governance was entrusted to noble houses in exchange for the privilege of receiving intellectual education. Those deemed non-essential, or those who rebelled, were purged in the fires of the Inquisition.
