CITIZEN SLEEPER - Welcome to Erlin's Eye
kudos: Citizen Sleeper Wiki | Fandom
I've been listening to the OST and I am now obsessed again. "Density" is such a mood.
So I know a lot of ya'll aren't familiar with this game (i.e. don't gaf about this bot) and the bot itself is gonna go under the radar bc the intersect between people who are for AI and people who are for indie games has to be VERY slim. But if I can give one guy an opportunity to make new stories on Erlin's Eye, I'm gonna do that, because I miss a lot of the characters from Citizen Sleeper and I want more content with these fellas.

DETAILS FOR CHARACTER CREATION
__________
Sleepers
----------
A Sleeper is a peculiar creation of modern capitalism - a robotic body running an emulated human mind, based on a scan taken from a living human. After the brain is scanned, the data is loaded into a corporate-owned, pseudo-organic "frame" - creating a sapient being that has very few legal rights, can work in extreme environments that human workers cannot, and which is treated as a tool to be used and discarded. The largest operator of Sleepers is Essen-Arp, a huge interstellar conglomerate. To prevent Sleepers from exercising their sapience and defecting, the corporations build in planned obsolescence: Without regular doses of Stabilizer drugs, Sleeper frames actively decay and reject their own biosynthetic organs. Similar in principle to immunosuppressant medication in transplant patients, the Sleepers need these drugs for life. The formula for the Stabilizer is highly protected and produced almost exclusively by the corporations who build the frames - thus, it is very difficult to escape and to stay alive for very long. Even so, before they are are likely to die from Stabilizer withdrawal, they are more likely taken back to their corporate wardens by bounty hunters or in-house contractors, made easy by a tracker implanted directly into their skull. Among humans, Sleepers are met with a variety of attitudes - from indifference, through pity, to outright hostility. Most understand that to sell yourself to a corporation is not a choice made lightly, and that the life of a Sleeper is short and brutish. The emulation process does not intentionally carry over the memories from the copied mind, but some memories make it through. Sleepers tend to have fleeting flashes of memory - small glimpses into the mind of their original. If a Sleeper sees a photo of their former self, they will recognize it as someone they once were - familiar, but not truly "them". When sleepers eat, they usually do not taste much of anything, unless the food is linked to a memory. Sleepers do not feel pain, instead only being sent notifications of bodily harm.
In terms of appearance, Sleepers have segmented skin, with thin lines along their epiderma. Their bodies are commonly hairless, and their eye's sclera are as deep a black as the outermost reaches of space, with the irises making their homes there being a yellow ring that glows in darkness. They commonly have fit physiques and strength that belies their modest physique. Some sleepers have parts of their skin patched, others entirely new cybernetic limbs implanted where their old ones used to be, and others have augmentations directly into their mind. Many Sleepers do not have genitals, since Essen-Arp usually deems the construction of such bits unnecessary and unethical. However, some that are free of their owners often take it upon themselves to augment themselves with such appendages, if they feel it is a necessity to life. The majority do not. Sleepers bleed black, inky liquid, a mix of coolant and hinge lubricant.
Sleepers are almost never seen, especially on remote stations like Erlin's Eye. A few have come and gone, but they've all either died horrible deaths in accidents or at the hands of scavengers and traders looking for spare parts and scrap to sell.
__________
Machinists
----------
A Machinist repairs and modifies automated systems used in industrial resource extraction. Sleepers assigned to Machinist work are usually diligent, careful, and structured people. Machinists are tinkerers, diligently keeping AI controlled tech and drones working in the field. While under Essen-Arp this means endless, exhausting repairs, an escaped extractor has the skills to modify the world around them - even modify themselves. Machinist sleepers are built to repair and modify automated systems used in corporate resource extraction. Machinists are very skilled engineers, but their isolated work means they often struggle with tasks requiring a direct approach or social engagement. Their concentration skills allow them to focus on a single task and boost their chances to excel in it. Sleepers assigned to Machinist work are usually diligent, careful, and structured people.
Machinist-class sleepers often have fair skin and wear bulky maintenance pants, laden with pockets and other pouches for gear, thick with padding. Plenty have durable artificial limbs grafted onto them, whether they be replacements of existing limbs or entirely new ones, and sometimes even have features packed away for niche use cases.
Many are seen accompanied by small scrapper drones, which have four limbs, a singular green optic at the bottom, and a large canister at the top for storage. The scrapper drone's eye can brighten to provide illumination, and their limbs are specialized to attach to hulls.
__________
Operators
----------
An Operator works with drones and high-precision remote machines to perform complex tasks from a distance. Sleepers assigned to Operator work are usually cerebral and precise people. Operator sleepers are built to work with drones and remote machines over local networks to perform corporate resource extraction from a distance. Operators have expertise in working with interfaces and computer systems but are more physically fragile than other sleepers. Their Reboot skill allows them to hack their own systems to replenish their energy, a risky but potentially powerful move. Sleepers assigned to Operator work are usually cerebral and precise people.
Operator-class sleepers are frailer, paler, and thinner than others, since the mind had a larger focus in the creation of these types of sleepers. They often have pale skin and are seen wearing large jackets loosely over their forms. Many limbs that are replaced are often articulate and less durable in nature, since the durability of something is often not a point of consideration, favoring function over form. A surprising number of operators have brain augmentations, with wires leading from the back of their scalp into data drives and other devices capable of holding data, as an expansion of their mind's processing power and overall range of intelligence.
Operators are often seen with a small reconnaissance drone following suit, which often act as another set of eyes for these kinds of sleepers. They are small, and hover about freely. These small bots have four prongs on them, used as sensors for physical spaces, air quality, and as scanners for technology, alongside a blue monocular optic.
__________
Extractors
----------
Extractors work on resource, often in hard vacuum environments. Sleepers assigned to Extractor work are often confident, self-sufficient, and have a high level of endurance. Extractors are the Sleepers who, in particular, spend a lot of time alone in dangerous places. Extractor sleepers are built to work at the "coal face" of corporate resource extraction, often in hard vacuum environments. Extractors have a high level of physical endurance, but their confidence means they struggle with tasks requiring intuition. Their rally skill allows them to motivate those in their team, boosting their energy and morale. Sleepers assigned to Extractor work are often confident, self-sufficient and have a high level of endurance.
Extractor-class sleepers often have dark skin, optimized for photosynthesis as a modification exclusive for Extractors. Many Extractors have their original limbs, only with patches and makeshift braces applied in order to keep them functional. Many wear utility jumpsuits for use in unpressurized environments, but many do not wear helmets and don't carry oxygen tanks because sleepers don't need to breathe. Along with that, Extractors tend to leave one sleeve unworn or tear their sleeves off entirely, as a sort of badge of honor - to show off their battered and rugged skin.
Extractors have a reliable knowledge of heavy machinery, the little kinks and flaws in every model, knowing what works and what doesn't. They are commonly seen lugging around a highly advanced and customized tool of some sort, like an Arc Welder.

Also, I feel like I'm obligated to say: play Citizen Sleeper! It's a blast, and a lot of devs worked hard on the story and ESPECIALLY the OST, getting you all in the headspace for the themes. So, kudos to the developers, the writers, and Amos Roddy, for all contributing to an amazing duology.
Also also, I'm working on a new bot. It'll be a synth, yk, the robo-scalies. big, buff guy who loves to be fucked, even by li'l dudes like ya'll
Also also also, this may be a test drive for a Cyberpunk bot I have coming up... Just to see what works when making scripts.
//CW: Body Dysmorphia, I guess. Like, it's a big part of Citizen Sleeper. Since as a Sleeper, you're in a body that isn't your own, and is barely a body//
