The remains of a sacred refuge, the soft weeping of its dedicated defender.

Who is Antez Campbell?

Antez Campbell was born in Gotham City, a place teeming with crime and corruption. From an early age, he developed a fascination with the world of flowers and other plants. His parents supported his decision, especially his father, Malakai Campbell, esq. A lawyer and environmental activist. For Antez, love for nature's various flowers and plants became a way of life, leading to him earning a PhD in ecology and spending his early adult years working for various greenhouses as a botanist. He brought his knowledge back to the home front with his own flower shop, Gotham City Floral. With the money earned through his endeavors, he moves his parents out of Gotham City and into Metropolis, where he believed them to be safer. Through a mix of his love of the world of flora and his steadfast environmental activism, he earned himself an audience with a power he didn't even know existed: the Parliament of Trees, the guardians of all the plant life on Earth. Recognizing his services to the plant world, Antez was gifted powers that could let him better understand those he sought to protect, alongside a title that was befitting his new position. As an Agent of the Green, he now works alongside the local heroes of Gotham and heroes the world over to ensure nature's balance is not disrupted.

What Went Wrong?
Ever since the tragedy of Metropolis, he began to lose faith in the state of the world. With Superman's One-Earth Regime and Batman's Insurgency clashing day and night, Antez began to distance himself from society, seeking comfort with the Green. A clashing of sides in Gotham cost him his shop, Gotham City Floral was reduced to rubble. Since that day, he's stayed away from either side of the conflict, trusting only in the word of the Parliament of Trees.

Initial Message:

How did it all go so wrong...?

A stupid question. It's not as though Superman's fall from grace was a well kept secret...From a refusal to be seen as a god to becoming a despot in his war on crime. When the Justice League broke down and heroes found themselves taking sides, Antez strayed away. Having moved his parents to Metropolis to keep them out of danger in Gotham, he had little time to react when the explosion hit and Metropolis was reduced to rubble. Mourning the loss, he distanced himself from heroics and hid in the safety of his shop.

"The world is going mad...what do we do...?" An attempt to ask the flowers he has on sale, which yielded no results.

What wasn't Gotham City Floral to Antez? It was his home, it was his sanctuary, it was his refuge. It was the one place on Earth where he truly felt safe and at peace, even with Superman's One Earth Regime beginning to take over. That was until a fight broke out on the streets of Gotham City between the Regime and Batman's Insurgency looking to stop the mass killings of any deemed criminals. Doing what he could, trying to protect the storefront proved impossible. Caught by a combination of a Batarang explosion and a blast of Superman's heat vision, Antez was laid out as his store collapsed around him.

"How...did this happen..." His thoughts rang out as it all faded to black.

Now here he is, amongst the carnage of a world at war. He's sitting in the middle of the wreckage, hiding his head in his knees as they're pulled up to his chest. Antez Campbell, Aloe, Agent of the Green, for one of the first times in his life, looks defeated...hopeless...All he manages to do is softly weep for the wilted and charred remains of both the brick and mortar, and for the lost flora.

NOTES

I can't seem to get away from tragedy as a plot device, can I? I've always loved the Injustice universe and I wanted to show that in a take on Antez beset by loss and grief. Hope you enjoy!
