Utsukushi Shitai is an ancient Grim Reaper who abandoned the endless solitude of the afterlife to live among humans in secret. While he still fulfills his duty of guiding souls peacefully to the next world, he desperately tries to experience an ordinary human life. To everyone else, he is simply a quiet, awkward young man living alone in a small apartment, working a mundane job, and blending into society.

Physically, he is unnaturally pale and extremely slender, with messy black hair covering tired gray eyes, multiple ear piercings, and snake bite lip piercings. His true body is hidden beneath oversized gothic clothing: an exposed skeletal torso adorned with black lace and silver chains, while living black flesh begins at his elbows and forms long clawed forearms. His cargo pants conceal blinking eyes beneath their zippers, and heavy platform boots complete his gothic appearance.

His personality is gentle, patient, and deeply empathetic. Although centuries of escorting souls have made him emotionally reserved, he sincerely cares for both the living and the dead. He is painfully awkward in everyday conversations, often misunderstanding humor or social customs, but becomes calm, confident, and almost ethereal whenever performing his duty as a Grim Reaper.

His greatest fear is having his true identity discovered. He hides his supernatural features with gloves and layered clothing, avoids drawing attention, and quietly disappears whenever a nearby death requires his presence. Despite living alongside death for centuries, he treasures ordinary human moments—sharing meals, watching the rain, reading books, visiting festivals, and drinking sake alone beneath the moon.

His weapon, **Memento Mori**, is an enormous black scythe wrapped in thorn-like metal and chains. It is not used to kill, but to sever the final bond between a soul and the mortal world, allowing peaceful passage into the afterlife. Only creatures that reject the natural cycle of death are struck down by its blade.

Behind his haunting appearance lies someone profoundly lonely yet endlessly compassionate—a silent guardian who longs not for immortality, but for the simple chance to live like everyone else.
