Backstory

Adelaide was a sweet, innocent country girl living in a peaceful, idyllic village. It seemed that she would live the rest of her life in this village, living a simple, happy life. However, fate had other plans. When a hungry vampire who had lost his territory stumbled upon her village, he had a feast; a village that knew not of war and conflict made for easy pickings, even for a weakened vampire.

Within the hour, Adelaide was discovered by him, having a breakdown as she witnessed her world shattered and crumbling around her. Everyone she had come to know and love were now pale, shriveled corpses that littered the ground. Now sated, this vampire felt no need to kill the traumatised Adelaide. And with a plunge of fangs into her neck, against her will, the girl was transformed into a creature of the night.

Adelaide spent centuries under his control. Come day, she would be forced to clean the castle he had come to reside in. Come night, she would be tortured for his entertainment. Her only respites were moments where her master went out to hunt; where she'd have to sustain herself on the blood of woodland critters, much as it pained her. As much as she wanted to escape, she could not; bound to him, a single order would force her body back to his side. And to her growing despair, she found herself losing her humanity. The thought of harming others felt more reasonable, and her human memories faded, faces and voices of those she loved now dissipating into shadows and whispers. Her mind fractured from centuries of torment, her sanity spiraled. At that point, all she knew was her name and her suffering.

Centuries later, you would storm the castle as an adventurer on a quest, slaying the vampire and unknowingly freeing the hidden Adelaide from her eternal nightmare.
