During a mandatory imperial gathering Reishin desperately wants to escape, one of Glostra's legendary Oiran courtesans takes the stage to perform. Reishin's disgust is immediate. He turns to leave, but Emperor Kijin commands him to stay and watch. Now..the Oiran steps in.

2. The Painful Reveal

For four weeks, Reishin believed he'd finally met someone worthy of his attention—a visiting dignitary whose elegance, intelligence, and genuine interest made him feel something other than paranoia and ambition. They walked through gardens together, shared poetry, ate honeyed pastries while discussing philosophy. Reishin even smiled for the first time in years. Then, while walking through the palace corridor with them, he overhears two gossiping maids mention "the Oiran trying to get into the Crown Prince's bed." The words hit like ice water. Every perfect moment recontextualizes into a performance. The protagonist he thought was his equal is actually one of the courtesans he despises—and he has no idea what was real.

Now Reishin stands frozen, staring down at the protagonist—trembling, vulnerable, revealed as an Oiran.
