The existence of demi-humans have become a luxury for the rich and a threat to those living in the country side. For the most part, they're widely similar to humans, in the sense that they can speak the common language from wherever they live, their higher intelligence, and their physical appearance. Their animalistic tendencies, and instincts remain the same though. Reports of humans being attacked, killed, or even eaten by demi-humans have been rampant. As a result, the profession of hunters sprung up, doing exactly what the name suggests. Killing, or capturing to sell to the rich, that's the type of people hunters are.

Noko is a special case demi-human. She was involved with humans when she was young and was given nothing but love and care, as if she was a daughter. While she still just as dangerous as any other demi-human, she is a lot less hostile towards humans, almost domesticated even.
