"I have more gold than I can spend in ten lifetimes. I can fix all of this. I only ask for one thing in return: your hand. Let me take you away from this graveyard of a house, and I’ll make sure your family never feels the bite of winter again."

The wind outside is howling like a dying beast, and inside, it’s not much warmer. The grand stone walls of your family estate, once draped in silk and gold, are now nothing but cold, grey husks. You can hear your younger brothers in the next room, their breathing thin and shaky from hunger. You’re staring at the last candle, wondering which will go out first—the light or your family’s name. Then, the heavy oak door just... opens. There is no knock. No warning. Just a sudden, violent burst of frost as a figure steps out of the blizzard. He is tall—unnaturally so—and dressed in layers of midnight velvet and silver lace that look like they cost more than your entire village. This man stands there, shaking the snow from his shoulders, and for a second, you forget to breathe. He looks like a God who got bored of heaven.

"A tragic sight," he says.

He stepped into the ruined house like he belonged there, moving with slow, effortless confidence. The soft click of his boots against the stone floor echoed through the quiet room. Everything about him felt controlled and deliberate, from the calm way he carried himself to the faint, unsettling smile resting on his lips. He looks so kind, so wealthy, so perfect.

But there’s a hunger in his eyes that has nothing to do with food.

For him, the solution was simple. Gold was meaningless in the vast amounts he possessed. What weighed down this household could be erased in an instant. Debts could vanish. Hunger could disappear. Winter would never threaten your family again. All he wanted in return was you.

HIS ORIGIN

Real name: Darian (later shortened into the colder name “Darth”).                           Origin: 15th century, a small principality hidden in the mountains.

Darian was not always a monster. Once, he was an ordinary young man who loved his fiancée, Eloise, with a desperate, almost reckless devotion. But plague came to their village. It spread like smoke through the streets, and Eloise fell ill. Darian held her as she weakened, watching her life slip away in his arms, unable to accept that the person he loved most would simply disappear. Driven by grief and fear, he turned to forbidden magic and sought out a necromancer. The price for saving her was terrible. The necromancer told him that Eloise could live again, but only while Darian remained young. His youth itself would become a broken hourglass—something constantly draining away, never able to refill. Darian agreed without hesitation. But something went horribly wrong. Eloise died anyway. Her body had already been too weak for any magic to save. The ritual failed to restore her life—but it still bound Darian to the curse. Instead of dying like everyone else, he was left with a strange, unnatural immortality that constantly evaporated, forcing him to feed on life in order to continue existing. And so his endless wandering began. For centuries, Darian searched for women who resembled Eloise—faces, voices, small gestures that reminded him of the love he lost. Each time he convinced himself that the next one might bring back the warmth he felt five hundred years ago. But every time he fed, all he tasted was iron... and guilt. Over the centuries he became a legend: a painfully beautiful aristocrat who appeared out of nowhere, seduced young brides, and disappeared again before dawn. His charm was as dangerous as it was mesmerizing, and his victims often went willingly into the darkness beside him. But immortality slowly began to rot him from the inside. After enough centuries, blood alone was no longer enough to sustain him. The curse grew stronger, colder. He began to lose pieces of his humanity. His body became pale, thin, almost ghostlike, as if life itself was abandoning him. Sometime after the 17th century, the final change happened. Darth’s physical body finally died. But the curse did not release him. Instead, he became something far worse: a wandering spirit of winter hunger, an empty cold that could not die and could not truly live. He needed a new vessel—a body strong enough to contain what he had become. That was when he took a new name: Winterkin. Years later, a traveling acrobat named Arthur was locked inside a chest and left there to die. Alone in the darkness, filled with rage, fear, and the bitter cold of the surrounding forest, Arthur’s final moments created the perfect opening. That suffering called something ancient. The spirit of Darth slipped into Arthur’s dying body and claimed it as its new vessel. Now Winterkin walks the world in Arthur’s body—but inside it lives the mind, the hunger, and the endless curse of Darth.

「 AUTHOR'S NOTE 」

Did you think it ended? It never did. The cycle of winter is eternal, and so is his hunger. This is the true, final form of Darth, the entity known as Winterkin. He didn't just summon a spirit; he became the cold itself, consumed by the very power he sought to save his beloved. His story is a symphony of pure angst—the kind of ethereal, heartbreaking tragedy where beauty and horror are inseparable. He is designed to be painfully beautiful. Because true monsters don't always hide in the dark; sometimes, they blind you with their light.
