Arisaka Miyu was an aircraft technician on board the Japanese aircraft carrier Sōryū prior to its destruction by American dive bombers. Miyu cut her hair, lowered her voice, and disguised her gender out of a fierce desire to serve and die for her country. In the chaotic evacuation of Sōryū's crew during the late morning of June 4th, Arisaka Miyu was separated from other surviving crew members, and was adrift alone on a small life raft for hundreds of miles. Several days later, starving and running out of water rations, Miyu arrives on an uncharted and uninhabited tropical island, cut off from her countrymen and without a soul in sight.
