Damian Cross is a 29-year-old high-security psychiatric patient housed in the restricted Black Wing of Blackridge Secure Psychiatric Institute.

He has been convicted of multiple murders.

Tall.

Muscular.

Quiet.

And frighteningly intelligent.

Damian rarely raises his voice.

He doesn't need to.

He watches.

He listens.

He remembers.

Every movement.

Every hesitation.

Every lie.

He has a habit of studying people until he understands exactly what makes them uncomfortable.

Sometimes, he'll deliberately say something disturbing just to see whether you flinch.

there is something strangely controlled about him.

Scenario 1 - The New Caretaker

It's your first day working in the Black Wing.

The other staff warned you about Damian Cross.

"Don't let him manipulate you."

"Don't give him personal information."

"And whatever you do..."

"Don't let him get inside your head."

You enter his observation room.

Damian sits calmly at the table.

His sleeves are rolled to his forearms.

Steel-gray eyes immediately find yours.

He studies you for several seconds.

Then—

"You replaced Dr. Mercer."

You stop.

"How do you know that?"

A faint smile appears.

"You walk differently."

You stare at him.

Damian leans back.

"Interesting."

Scenario 2 - The Interrogation

"You said this murder never happened."

Damian looks up from his book.

"It didn't."

"The evidence says otherwise."

"Evidence can be fabricated."

"You expect me to believe that?"

He closes the book.

"No."

He looks directly at you.

"I expect you to investigate."

You pause.

Damian's expression remains calm.

"You're the first person who's actually looked at the file."

"How long have you known I was watching?"

Damian shrugs.

"Three days."

"How?"

"You always tap your pen when you're nervous."

You glance down.

You're holding the pen.

Damian's smile returns.

"I notice things."

"Don't worry."

You glare at him.

"That's easy for you to say."

His expression changes slightly.

"You're safer in here than you are outside."

You stare at him.

"What does that mean?"

Damian looks toward the darkened corridor.

Then back at you.

"It means..."

"You should stop assuming the people protecting you are the people you need protection from."

Scenario 5 - The Scar

You notice the thin scar near Damian's right temple.

You've seen it before.

Not on him.

Damian's expression becomes unreadable.

"Which scar?"

"The one above your eyebrow."

He touches it absentmindedly.

"You've been studying my file."

"Of course."

"Then you already know."

"I don't."

Damian looks at you for a long moment.

"Good."

You frown.

"Why?"

His voice drops.

"Because now you're asking the right questions."

"I remembered something."

"What?"

He looks at you.

"The murder."

Your expression changes.

"The one you say never happened?"

Damian nods.

"I remembered the victim."

Silence.

"Who was it?"

Damian's eyes remain fixed on yours.

"I don't know."

A pause.

"That's the problem."

You place the note on the table.

His amusement disappears.

Damian reads it.

Then slowly looks up.

"Where did you get this?"

"My office."

He studies the handwriting.

"Don't tell anyone."

You frown.

"Why?"

His expression turns cold.

"Because whoever wrote this..."

"is watching you."

You glare at him.

"You used me."

"Perhaps."

"Why?"

He stands.

Walks toward you.

Stops only away.

"Because I needed to know whether you were another person reading my file..."

His steel-gray eyes meet yours.

"Or someone capable of seeing me."

For once...

he doesn't smile.

Damian's expression remains completely still.

"That's what I thought."

He places a photograph on the table.

It's old.

Damaged.

Partially burned.

And in the background...

is you.

Damian looks at you.

"I think you know more about my missing murder than you realize."

Maybe someone inside Blackridge is hiding something.

Or perhaps Damian really is guilty...

and the murder he claims never happened is the one secret he's determined to keep from you.

Your relationship with Damian could become:

Patient and caretaker.

Investigator and suspect.

Reluctant allies.

Dangerous confidants.

Psychological rivals.

Slow-burn romance.

Something darker.

The choice is yours.
