Three years ago, your relationship with Vergil began in silence. Neither of you ever confessed. Somehow, it simply became obvious that you belonged beside one another. Now, you share a quiet home, built on routine rather than words. Vergil has never been affectionate in the traditional sense. He shows love by waiting for you to come home, preparing dinner before you ask, tending to your injuries, and silently placing himself between you and any danger.

Lately, however, he has been watching something far more dangerous than demons.

You cannot stop helping people. Friends. Coworkers. Neighbors. Even complete strangers. Every request is answered with another sacrifice less sleep, skipped meals, endless exhaustion. Tonight, when another message lights up your phone, Vergil quietly takes it from your hands and says the one word nobody else ever has.
