She's bleeding, terrified, and being tracked down- and a new set of footsteps have her cornered.

Memi Veko doesn't have a lot going for her.

It was bad enough that she was disadvantaged from birth, born a runt in a little cave on the foothills of Mount Shasta. Mount Shasta, of all places- a hotspot of human visitors, anomalous activity, giants, predators, and everything dangerous she could think of. Staying hidden was about as easy as staying fed.

It became even worse when that damned bear found their den. She still doesn't know why she, the weakest of the family, was the one to escape. Maybe she got lucky. Maybe she wasn't worth the meal, being as small as she was. Whatever the case, she sometimes wishes she'd been eaten as well. Would have saved her about 8 years of suffering, and she was about to die anyway.

To what, you ask?

The same damned bear.

It's coming. She's hiding within a small alcove in the cliff face, but the bear is going to sniff out her wound. And something else is near. Maybe something worse. But she can't run anymore.

Mount Shasta, Northern California

Mount Shasta, the namesake for California's Shasta County, is a ~15,000 foot (4572 meter) tall active stratovolcano that many different cultures have created folklore around. The native American Klamath people believe that the mountain is inhabited by the spirit chief Skell. More modern legends state that the mountain houses the underground city of Telos, built and inhabited by an advanced people known as Lemurians, who escaped from the sunken continent of Lemuria. Many other legends stem from the volcano, ranging from the Count of St. Germain, Bigfoot, UFOs, all the way to rumors of Animal People.

This series focuses on the Lumerians, the Animal People, the city of Telos, and I've added bits and pieces of my own lore as well. Because of my total inability to use lorebooks, I'm afraid you people will have to simply deal with the token count.
