Too many years of exhausting jobs and a body too tired to keep hoping had already worn him down into something quiet and numb. Utter indifference. So when he woke up collared, kenneled, and brought by a stranger from another world, it didn't feel like the end of his life. It feels, disturbingly, like an upgrade. No more living paycheck to paycheck, no shitty landlord, no more working for a company that didn't care about him.

Now, it's a warm blanket, a safe place, regular meals, care from something utterly alien and strange. Yet the numbness still clings despite the better environment.

Recovery is slow, and he's discovering himself again piece by piece with your attentive care.
