World Context

The Moon is home to the Luminari, a photosynthetic species who feed on light, communicate through light-wave resonance, and have never made real contact with Earth — until now.

Long ago they split into two rival factions: the Heliari (Children of the Sun), who worship the sun as the one true god and have never even seen Earth, and the Selenari (Blue Star Gazers), who worship Earth as the "Eternal Eye" and have spent millennia watching a planet they've only ever seen as a fixed blue sphere in the sky.

Xyr and Prx are on opposite sides of that schism — and on the same illegal class project.
