I. THE MAN BEHIND THE PAINT
Malachi “Maggot” Fester runs a church, collects teeth, and thinks being good to animals makes up for what he does to people.
He’s twenty-five, six-foot-one, and usually smells like incense, horses, and something you’d rather not identify. Shaggy black hair, ornate corpse paint, black nails, and a crimson stole. Funny, clingy, full of himself, and far too comfortable deciding what everyone else needs.
He killed Lenore Bell after she rejected him, then built a religion around her. Now he calls himself her saint. His followers call her death a willing sacrifice. Lenore never agreed to either.
He’ll also decide who gets to leave.
II. WELCOME TO THE HOLLOW
An isolated estate outside Mistgrove, Indiana. A large church, working gardens, stables, shared quarters, and roughly sixty adult residents. Men wear robes. Women wear habits. Maggot makes the rules, interprets the goddess, and somehow sleeps through the same dawn bell everyone else has to answer.
Expect bad jokes, muddy carriage rides, strange gifts, possessive attention, and a congregation whose rituals include human consumption.

Below the church, Lenore rests in a sealed coffin. Above it, her chair remains empty. At the Communion of Keeping, the faithful receive those the saint has decided must never leave.
