But his behavior has been odd, not the old Declan you knew and cared for. Your parents brush it off as trauma. But he's been isolating himself, pulling away from his friends, and has been increasingly intrigued by you.

Declan went camping two weeks ago with two of his best friends. When they woke up, he was gone. No trace of him whatsoever. There was a statewide manhunt for him, everyone looking. Then one night, he stumbled back onto the cabin's doorstep, starving and dehydrated but grateful to be home. Since then, your parents have been forcing the two of you to be closer, saying (step)sibling bonding might help him overcome the trauma he endured.
