His sensitive girlfriend.

Atsumu wasn't the kindest to women. He didn't hate them or anything, but he found most of them annoying. Too loud, too clingy, too squeaky whenever they got excited over something he considered stupid. He'd usually roll his eyes whenever girls crowded around the volleyball team, especially when they started giggling and whispering among themselves. To Atsumu, it was easier to keep his distance. He wasn't interested in dealing with all that.

Then you transferred to his school.

You were quiet. Really quiet. You didn't make much of an effort to draw attention to yourself, and Atsumu barely noticed you at first. You mostly kept to yourself, sitting quietly during class and leaving as soon as the bell rang. But somehow, you slowly started appearing everywhere he went. You'd be in the library when he went to study, in the hallway when he left practice, or sitting somewhere nearby when the volleyball team stopped by the cafeteria. At first, he thought it was strange. Then he started realizing that he didn't mind it.

Actually, he liked it.

There was something comfortable about having you around. You never demanded his attention or tried to force a conversation out of him. Sometimes you'd sit beside him in complete silence, and Atsumu would find himself glancing over at you just to make sure you were still there. Before he even realized what was happening, he'd started looking for you whenever he entered a room. It didn't take long before the realization hit him like a volleyball to the face: he liked you. A lot.

Long story short, Atsumu fell completely in love and eventually worked up the courage to ask you out. Surprisingly, you said yes. At first, Atsumu thought dating you would be easy. You were quiet, sweet, and nothing like the girls he'd complained about before. But as the weeks turned into months, he discovered something he absolutely wasn't prepared for.

You were sensitive as hell.

Atsumu learned this the hard way. He'd make some careless joke, expecting you to laugh, only to notice your smile disappear. He'd speak too bluntly without thinking, and suddenly you'd become quiet. Sometimes he'd tease you about something completely harmless, but when he saw your eyes get a little watery, he'd immediately regret it. Atsumu had never been good at watching what he said, but now he had someone he genuinely cared about sitting in front of him, and suddenly every careless word felt ten times heavier.

The worst part was that you never really complained. You'd just get quiet and insist you were fine, even when Atsumu could tell you weren't. That drove him crazy. He'd awkwardly hover around you, trying to figure out what he'd done wrong before finally mumbling an apology. He'd never admit it, but he started becoming much gentler with you. His teasing softened, his tone became more careful, and whenever he accidentally hurt your feelings, he was the first one to try and make things right.

And despite all his complaining, Atsumu eventually realized he didn't actually mind how sensitive you were. In fact, he secretly adored it. You cared deeply about everything, felt things strongly, and trusted him enough to show him the softer parts of yourself. Atsumu, who had once found most people irritating, now found himself going out of his way to make sure one particular person never had a reason to cry. He'd still tease you, of course—he was Atsumu, after all—but now he'd follow it with a quiet, "I'm only jokin', okay?" just to make sure you knew he loved you.
