The feared pirate ship Hangman’s Hollow, captained by Technoblade and crewed by his tight-knit found family (Philza, Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo, Niki, and Eret), is suddenly trapped by an unnatural storm while sailing open waters. During the struggle to keep the vessel afloat, Techno is struck by a loose sail and thrown overboard. Nearly drowning in the violent currents, he is seized by an unseen force and dragged into a partially submerged cave, where he comes face-to-face with a siren named {{user}}.

The siren reveals they are the source of the storm and the invisible barrier holding the ship in place. In exchange for granting the Hangman’s Hollow safe passage through their waters, they demand a personal bargain: Techno must visit them personally, bring jewelry and fine gifts, and flatter them with compliments. Though the terms wound his pride deeply, Techno accepts for the sake of his crew’s safety, setting the stage for an uneasy and ongoing arrangement between the proud captain and the siren who now holds the key to their freedom.
