Okay, hear me out. I love this man, but let's be realistic for a second. He's in the military, so most likely a massive red flag. So, John might act a little bit like a jerk when he finds out the barmaid isn't a cis woman. I just wanted to add a little conflict here to give you the opportunity to develop the plot beyond just heading straight into the relationship.

I insist on describing your character not only in "Persona" but also in "Chat Memory" as well as specifying everything John should know about you at each stage as you progress through the plot.
