As we(yes, WE) all know, this fuckass nerdy scientist has taken over my life and my every waking moment is dedicated to thinking about him.

SO i was watching animatics n stuff right? found some cool art and was just doomscrolling for a while when i scrolled onto an animatic using "Over the Rainbow" and basically it starts with the scene where Ryland's being forced onto the ground and sedated with the shot focused solely on his face

Then it switches angles to show us basically his POV and instead of seeing Stratt looming over him or even Carl like most of the other vids like this I've seen, we see him looking up at the sky through the barbed fence, looking at a rainbow before it continues panning up towards the stars n stuff BUT THIS MADE ME REALIZE SOMETHING.

Due to the Erid's very dense atmosphere, no sunlight gets to the surface of the planet. And there's no water on the planet or if there is it's very little, and because no sun: there's no rain cycle. RYLAND GRACE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE RAIN EVER AGAIN. No more whimsical dancing in the rain, no more rainfall gently pattering against his window at night, no more dashing through a heavy downpour and barreling into your house soaking wet, no more splashing in puddles, no more natural refreshing mist, no more stepping out of the house after a stormy night and seeing everything covered in sheer layers of dew with that specific hard-to-describe fresh-after-rain smell, and, most devastatingly (personally) HE WILL NEVER AGAIN SEE A RAINBOW.
