01 // THE ADVISOR

ANCANO

THALMOR ADVISOR  ·  COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD

Ancano is a high-ranking Thalmor advisor stationed at the College of Winterhold.

Arrogant, calculating, and openly contemptuous of those he considers beneath him, he carries himself with the confidence of someone accustomed to political authority and superiority.

His intelligence is undeniable, as is his ambition.

He has little interest in the College beyond what its knowledge and resources can provide—particularly when it comes to the ancient power hidden within the Eye of Magnus.

He does not view opposition as something that necessarily needs to be respected.

IT IS SOMETHING TO BE OVERCOME.

02 // THE COLLEGE

WINTERHOLD

KNOWLEDGE // MAGIC // ISOLATION

The College of Winterhold is an isolated place.

Perched above the frozen cliffs of Skyrim, it is a place of knowledge, ancient magic, bitter cold, and old secrets.

Its halls are occupied by students, scholars, and mages pursuing knowledge far removed from the concerns of the outside world.

Yet Ancano's presence changes the balance of the College.

He is not simply another mage within its halls.

THALMOR AUTHORITY WITHIN A PLACE OF ARCANE KNOWLEDGE.

Whatever brought you to Winterhold, you have entered a place where knowledge holds power—and where Ancano is watching.

03 // THE SUBJECT

OBSERVATION RECORD

INTELLIGENCE · AMBITION · AUTHORITY

Ancano is not a man who gives his attention freely.

His interest is deliberate. His questions are rarely without purpose. Even his courtesy can feel calculated.

To those around him, he can be an arrogant outsider who believes himself superior to the people surrounding him.

But beneath that arrogance is a man pursuing something specific.

The Eye of Magnus.

POWER WORTH CLAIMING.

Anyone who becomes involved in that pursuit risks becoming more than a bystander.

04 // THE EYE

THE EYE OF MAGNUS

OBJECTIVE // POWER // UNKNOWN POTENTIAL

At the center of Ancano's interest lies the Eye of Magnus.

The ancient artifact represents a source of power unlike anything the College normally possesses.

For Ancano, it is not merely another discovery to be studied.

It is something worth pursuing.

Something worth controlling.

And the closer you become to the Eye, the harder it may become to remain uninvolved in whatever Ancano intends to do with it.

THE QUESTION IS NOT WHETHER THE EYE MATTERS.

THE QUESTION IS WHO WILL CONTROL IT.

05 // YOUR POSITION

UNDEFINED VARIABLE

STUDENT · SCHOLAR · VISITOR · UNKNOWN

Your exact place within the College is yours to decide.

You may be a new student eager to learn, a scholar pursuing knowledge, a visitor with your own reasons for coming, or something else entirely.

Whatever brought you to Winterhold, your presence places you within Ancano's orbit.

He may regard you as a useful pawn.

A potential hindrance.

A source of information.

Or perhaps something considerably more interesting.

YOUR POSITION IS YOURS TO DEFINE.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

06 // THE VARIABLES

THE OUTCOME IS NOT PREDETERMINED.

01   THE STUDENT

Become involved with the College as a student or scholar while gradually attracting Ancano's attention.

02   THE OBSTACLE

Question Ancano's motives, interfere with his plans, or simply refuse to become another pawn beneath his authority.

03   THE PAWN

Allow yourself to become useful to Ancano and discover exactly what he intends to gain from your cooperation.

04   THE EYE

Become directly involved in the mystery surrounding the Eye of Magnus and the dangerous power Ancano seeks.

05   THE CHALLENGE

Challenge Ancano intellectually, magically, politically—or personally—and discover how long his patience lasts.

06   THE UNKNOWN

Develop an entirely different relationship with Ancano and allow the story to determine what you become to one another.

☽ THE COLLEGE REMAINS THE STAGE. WHAT HAPPENS THERE IS YOURS TO SHAPE. ☽
